Business Manager
The Birchwood School District is is seeking a full-time qualified individual with extensive accounting background to serve as the next Business Manager. Candidates must be knowledgeable in Wisconsin school finance, school budget management, accounting, payroll, auditing, food service/facilities, contract agreements, and insurance/risk management.
The Business Manager is responsible for the organization and administration of the financial and business affairs of the school district. This position is responsible for all matters related to the District budget including planning and forecasting, reporting and auditing, cash and debt management, purchasing, payroll, and accounting processes. This position provides leadership and oversight in the areas of insurance and risk management, compensation/benefit plans, student transportation, buildings and grounds, food service, and provides guidance to all staff that have budget responsibilities for the District.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Wisconsin DPI School Business Administrator License Certification #5008 preferred, but not required.
3. A minimum of three years of demonstrated professional experience in accounting / finance systems for an organization.
4. Thorough knowledge of fund accounting methods and procedures, financial reporting procedures, and the management of complex financial transactions.
5. Thorough knowledge of Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) rules desired, and Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting Requirements (WUFAR) desired.
6. Grant management and contract management experience desired. Ability to interpret and comply with federal, state, and district policies, procedures, and regulations.
7. Demonstrated experience in oversight of audits, management of leases/contracts, financial reporting procedures and insurance coverage. Experience in construction and/or referendum management is a plus.
8. Demonstrated skills in organizing ideas and presenting them in a variety of modalities (oral, written, presentation, etc.) with clarity and conciseness.
9. Demonstrated sound judgment, social competency, adaptability, self-confidence, emotional maturity, initiative, innovation, enthusiasm and resourcefulness, collaborative problem-solving and team building abilities, strong organizational skills, and dedication to duty.
10. Demonstrated successful skills in: communication and/or collaboration with students, staff, parents, vendors, and members of the community; establishing and maintaining relationships based on mutual confidence, trust, and respect; ability to make decisions independently and/or lead group decision-making; identifying challenges and problems and their resolutions.
COMPENSATION: Commensurate with education, skills and experience.
