Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP)

The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) provides assistance for heating costs, electric costs, and energy crisis situations. Operating with federal and state funding, the program provides assistance to households across the state to help lower the burden incurred with monthly energy costs.

WHEAP  is a Federal/State funded program designed to help renters/homeowners reduce their energy consumption which includes: wood, propane, natural gas, electricity, or fuel. The funding pays for a portion of energy costs; it is NOT intended to cover the entire energy cost of the residence.  The amount of assistance is based on a variety of factors, including: size of dwelling, dwelling type, household income to state median income and home energy costs. Whether you rent or own you are eligible to apply.
