Hello My Name Is...

Mr. Todd Herricks

Teacher Profile : Mr. Todd Herricks enjoys teaching physical education in multiple grade levels.  He is also coaching the high school cross country team.

Educational Background : I graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1993 and then went onto the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  Here I received my bachlor’s degree in PK-12 physical education with minors in health and coaching in 1998. In 2007 I obtained a minor in adaptive physical education from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.  And in 2008, I earned a master’s degree in collaborative education-leadership from Fielding University out of Santa Barbara California.  My teaching career began in 1998 at Chippewa Falls High School.  I then taught at Luxemburg-Casco School District in 1999.  From 2000-2004 I taught in Drummond, WI.  Then my teaching career brought me back to my hometown of Rice Lake where I taught from 2004-2007.  Since 20004, I have been teaching in the Birchwood School District.

About the Teacher : I have loved growing up and raising my family in the northwoods of Wisconsin.  My family consist of my wife (who is a Birchwood alumni) and our five children.  I have enjoyed a multitude of sports from all seasons including participating in, teaching and the coaching of children from elementary, middle school as well as high school.  My favorite hobby is bow hunting in the fall.

Expectations : My hope is to provide students with a wide variety of physical activity opportunities that they can engage in to enhance their fitness at all levels (physical, social, emotional, etc.) while learning the benefits of overall fitness.  In doing so, hopefully students will be able to find several activities that they enjoy participating in now so that these activities become life skills that they make a part of their life as they progress through all phases of life.
